In those days, when I was still a student in New York, a friend and I would meet in the city to take in a movie or a Broadway play. LLOYD SCHWARTZ, BYLINE: That was the sublime voice of soprano Leontyne Price in Verdi's "Il Trovatore," recorded in February 1961, just a few days after her Metropolitan Opera debut. The Met has just released a two-CD set of excerpts from her live performances there. Critics and fans agreed that she had one of the most beautiful singing voices they'd ever heard.
